FAQ

How do I properly care for my CHOB?

To ensure your cutting board remains beautiful and stable in the long term, the right routine after use is crucial:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the board with warm water and clean it without dish soap .
  • Material: Use only a soft sponge or a soft cloth that can get wet.

No brushes, no scouring pads, no steel wool. These materials will damage the surface.
  • No soaking: Never leave the board in water . Instead: clean it briefly, and you're done.
  • Proper drying: Afterwards , thoroughly dry the board and leave it to dry standing upright so that both sides get air evenly .

Once the board is completely dry and feels dry and slightly rough , it's the right time for maintenance:

Then you can treat it – depending on the desired finish – with one of our care products .

Can the board go in the dishwasher?

No. Absolutely not.

No. Absolutely not. A cycle in the dishwasher can permanently destroy a wooden board.

Here's what can actually happen in the dishwasher:

  • Warping/curvature: Heat, steam, and prolonged periods of humidity cause wood to expand and contract unevenly. The result: the board becomes crooked and no longer lies flat.
  • Cracks/Splits: Rapid changes between "wet-hot" and "dry-hot" stress the material. Cracks are not only unsightly – they often spell the end for a clean surface.
  • Roughening & Greying: Cleaners and heat strip the wood of its natural oils. The surface becomes rough, looks “washed out” and quickly appears old.
  • Glue joints can give way (delamination): In glued constructions, heat and moisture can weaken the bond – in the worst case, segments/joints open up.
  • Hygiene gets worse, not better: cracks and crevices can trap moisture and residues – this can promote mold/mildew growth and is difficult to clean.

For those who want to keep their board flat , stable and looking good for years: Hand cleaning as described (warm, soft, short, dry immediately, leave to air standing up) – and as soon as the wood appears dry/rough, consistently care for it with our care products .

How long does the shipping to my country take?

The estimated delivery time within Germany is 2 to 4 working days,

whilst for orders to other European countries it is between

5 and 12 working days; based on experience, neighbouring countries such as Austria or Switzerland can generally expect the shorter delivery time.
